Pure Water Filters

Pure water filters include a whole range of products for making our water clean and pure. Some of these contain drinking water filters, water softeners, scale inhibitors, reverse osmosis water systems, water chillers, UV systems, fluoride removals, iron removals and whole house water filters.

Pure water filters include a whole range of products for making our water clean and pure. Some of these contain drinking water filters, water softeners, scale inhibitors, reverse osmosis water systems, water chillers, UV systems, fluoride removals, iron removals and whole house water filters. Some manufacturers also are catering for fridge filters that are suitable for US stle models that haev cooled drinking water, as well as water pitchers, faucet mounted and replacement filters.

By using any of these types of pure water filters, you will enjoy purer, cleaner and better tasting water. These water filters are very effective at removing all sorts of contaminants from the water, making it almost 100% pure. They are usually created to last many years, even decades and many of these manufacturers, such as the Pure Water Systems, combine the very same technology that drug manufacturers use: absolute purity!

Some of the contaminants pure water filters are capable of removing are:

  • fluoride and heavy metals
  • nitrates and nitrites
  • drugs and pharmaceutical by-products
  • herbicides as well as pesticides
  • all sorts of bacteria, virus, cyst
  • industrial chemicals and various solvents such as TCE, VOC and MTBE

Carbon filters are using granular activated carbon and they are perfect for removing many organic contaminants as well as chlorine. They also reduce some toxic heavy metals, however they do not remove all dissolved mineral salts, such as arsenic or nitrates.

A reverse osmosis water system will reduce many heavy metals as well as dissolved salts. Their problem is mostly fluoride, nitrates and radioactive particles in the water. Depending on the budget, the reverse osmosis water system can vary in performance greatly.

Gadget filters are small gadgets that are attached to your faucet and they also fit in a pitcher. They use either granulated activated carbon or a small block of carbon. They tend to improve the taste, odor and appearance of the water.

Distillers are some of the best pure water filters but to get a high quality of water distillation for many years ahead it can become quite costly. You can also buy cheaper countertop distillers but they won't last for a long time, so you will need to keep replacing them. These distillers produce water quite slowly, they need electricity and produce a lot of heat in the process.

Alkaline water machines are another type of pure water filters. They don't really remove much of the heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, asbestos, arsenic or mercury, and neither do they remove fluoride or nitrates.

Many of the systems above also have added to them ultra-violet lights to kill various bacteria, cyst and virus. Keep in mind though that UV is a disinfectant and not a water filter.
